Book about the US ancestry of Princess Diana now available in the UK

Original information from the New England Historic Genealogical Society

A new book was published in the USA in August 2007 looking at the detailed ancestry of the late Diana, Princess of Wales. The book has been meticulously researched and traces Princess Diana's ancestry from her immediate British relatives through ancestors in Europe and the USA and the Far East. It identifies the Duke and Duchess of Marlborough, Barbara Villiers, Dr Joseph Strong and King James I of England as important figures in Princess Diana's history. Other Americans that Princess Diana is connected with include Nancy Reagan, Emily Dickinson, Susan B. Anthony, Thomas Jefferson, Anderson Cooper, and Mitt Romney Boston.

Joseph Strong was a US army doctor who became a leading Philadelphia physician - he was related to Nathan Hale. One of the Princess Diana's great-grandfathers was an Irish peer who married the daughter of millionaire Wall Street broker Frank Work. Through this link, Princess Diana and her sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, have more than 100 American ancestors, many of whom settled in New England in the early days of the pioneers. Another of Princess Diana's ancestors was Archibald Campbell, 9th Earl of Argyll, who attacked and invaded Scotland in support of Monmouth's rebellion in 1685. He was beheaded for his trouble.

The book was published by the New England Historic Genealogical Society (NEHGS) to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Princess Diana's death in a car crash in a tunnel in Paris.

It is researched and written by American genealogist Richard Evans, documents the Princess Diana's family history in Great Britain, Europe, and the United States. Many people are still enormously interested in Diana and her role and position in the Royal Family and this book will appeal to the many people also interested in Princess Diana's genealogy. It provides a detailed glimpse at an aristocratic ancestry, with links to many prominent people from different generations and different times.

The book is now available to buy in the UK but is hard to get hold of - click on the link above to purchase from Amazon.co.uk.
